The names of the recipients of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) for the year 2025 have been announced on the website of the Ministry of External Affairs of India. This highest honor is given by the Government of India to the non-resident Indians across the world for their exceptional services on the occasion of Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (PBD). As per tradition, the 18th celebration will be celebrated in Bhubaneswar from 8-10 January this year.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) is the highest honor conferred on overseas Indians. PBSA is conferred by the Hon’ble President of India as part of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention on Non-Resident Indians, Persons of Indian Origin or an organization/institution established and run by the Non-Resident Indians or Persons of Indian Origin in recognition of their outstanding achievements both in India and abroad.

This year’s 27 awardees from around the world include Dr. Syed Anwar Khursheed from Saudi Arabia, Professor Ajay Rane and Dr. Maria Lina Joan Fernandes (Australia), Dr. Philomena Harris (Barbados), Swami Sanyuktananda (Fiji), Saraswati Vidya (Guyana), Dr. Lekhraj (Japan), Dr. Prem Kumar (Kargiya Republic), Sukthava Choudhary (Laos), Krishna Sujani (Malawi), Dr. V.K. Subramaniam (Malaysia), Dr. Sarita (Mauritius), Abhiya Kumar (Moldova), Dr. Ram Niwas (Myanmar), Jagannath Shekhar Asthana (Romania), Hindustani Samaj (Russia), Mrs. Sidharani Gupta (Russia), Uttam Arvind Timurkar (Singapore), Robert Masih Nihar (Spain), Dr. Kaushik Lakshmi Das Ramya (Tanzania), H.E. Christine, Rama Krishna Iyer (United Arab Emirates), B. Sabya Ramesh Babu (Uganda), B. Usha Kumari Parashar (UK), Dr. Sharad Lakhanpal, Sharmila Ford and Ravi Kumar (USA).

A jury/award committee under the auspices of the Vice President of India finalizes the names of the PBSA recipients. The awards are presented to the awardees by the President of India on 8th January.

Dr. Syed Anwar Khursheed is a senoir doctor working at National Guards Hopital, Riyadh. He has been working in Saudi Arabia for more than four decades. He has been given this award for his medical services, community services and the diaspora education in KSA.

Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan congratulated Dr. Anwar for being conferred the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2025. He applauded his contribution in the medical services, community services and the diaspora education in KSA.
