
Simulation of Mushaira, CBSE Toppers Felicitated, IISJ MC Chairman Honored
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Under the auspices of the Urdu Academy Jeddah, a grand and highly successful quarterly program was held yesterday evening at the International Indian School Jeddah (Girls Section). The event featured a Mimicry Mushaira, a felicitation ceremony for distinguished students of Urdu in grades 10 and 12, as well as top achievers in the CBSE board exams from Jeddah. The chief guest, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Saleem, the esteemed Chairman of the International Indian School Jeddah, was also honored with a special tribute.
The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Hafiz Mohammed Nizamuddin Ghouri, Secretary of Publications for the Academy, followed by a Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (SAW) recited by Syed Mohammed Khalid Hussain Madani, Vice President of the Academy. The entire event, including the Mimicry Mushaira, was expertly conducted by Mr. Aslam Afghani, the Program Coordinator of the Academy.
Hafiz Mohammed Abdus Salam, President of the Urdu Academy, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the Academy’s continuous efforts to promote and develop the Urdu language. He extended a warm welcome to the guests, teachers, parents, and attendees.
The chief guest, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Saleem, Chairman of the International Indian School Jeddah, was honored with a shawl, bouquet, commemorative plaque, and a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his educational services, student welfare policies, and support for the Urdu language. The honor was presented by key officials of the Urdu Academy, including Hafiz Mohammed Abdus Salam (President), Syed Khalid Madani (Vice President), Syed Naeemuddin Bari (Secretary), Samee Farooqui (Treasurer), Aslam Afghani (Program Coordinator), Dr. Mirza Qudrat Nawaz Beg (Joint Secretary), Hafiz Mohammed Nizamuddin Ghouri (Secretary of Publications), Syed Abdul Wahab Qadri (Joint Program Coordinator), Yusuf Waheed (Senior Member), and Mohammed Yahya.


In his speech, the Chairman praised the Urdu Academy’s initiative, stating that such events are crucial for connecting the younger generation with the Urdu language. He encouraged students to remain dedicated to hard work and the pursuit of knowledge, thanking the Academy for the honor.
Later, Dr. Mirza Qudrat Nawaz Beg (Joint Secretary) conducted a segment on English-to-Urdu word meanings, Hafiz Mohammed Nizamuddin Ghouri presented Urdu-to-Urdu word meanings, and Syed Abdul Wahab Qadri (Joint Program Coordinator) engaged the audience with an interactive “Complete the Incomplete Verses” activity, rewarding participants with gifts.
Dr. Mufti Prince Zia (Member of the IISJ Committee) and Mehtab Qadar (President of Urdu Gulban Jeddah) commended the Urdu Academy’s efforts and congratulated the students for their engagement with Urdu.
The highlight of the event was the captivating “Mimicry Mushaira”, where students dressed as famous Urdu poets and recited their selected verses with remarkable style and diction, leaving the audience spellbound. The Academy awarded all participating students with commemorative medals.
Finally, outstanding students from Jeddah’s schools who excelled in Urdu (10th and 12th grades) and CBSE board exams were honored with “Medals of Excellence”.
The program saw a large gathering of educationists, literary figures, social activists, school principals, teachers, parents, and community members, filling the Girls Section auditorium to capacity and making the event truly memorable. Notable attendees included Dr. Mufti Prince Zia, Ghazanfar Mumtaz (IISJ Committee Members), Qamar Sada Bhatkal, Mehtab Qadar (President of Urdu Gulban Jeddah), Engineer Khwaja Mohiuddin (JTS), Mohammed Farooq (Bazm-e-Ittihad), Shameem Kausar (KTT), Syed Afzal (TWEF), Mohammed Fahim Iqbal (Academy Jeddah), and Syed Afzaluddin Naqshbandi (prominent community figures).
Attendees expressed that such events not only promote Urdu but also encourage students. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Khwaja ameenuddin, an esteemed member of the Academy. The Darul Uloom Jeddah team, including Mohammed Waseem, Mohammed Jafar, Mohammed Sameer, Hafiz Mohammed Zeeshan Ali, and Mohammed Azeer Shahbaz, played a key role in organizing the event.
