On Aug 10, 2025, Air India Flight AI 2455, en route from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi, was forced into an emergency diversion to Chennai after a technical snag was detected mid-flight.
Among the passengers were 5-MPs including K.C. Venugopal, who described the incident as “frighteningly close to tragedy.”
Thanks to God, the flight safely landed on its second attempt after a risky go-around.
As an aviation justice lawyer, I have consistently raised alarms over the growing technical faults & management lapses at Air India Express & Air India, especially following the Tata Group’s takeover in 2022.
With five MPs onboard this time, there is a crucial opportunity for them to escalate these pressing concerns to the highest levels — not only regarding domestic routes but also the Gulf sectors, where similar issues continue to surface.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) must take swift & decisive action before these repeated “close calls” escalate into irreversible tragedies.
If such incidents become routine only within AI/AIX operations, a deeper, root-cause investigation is urgently warranted.
