
The Riyadh Indian Association (RIA) commemorated its Silver Jubilee with great splendour on Friday, 12th September 2025, at Dunes International School, Riyadh.
RIA, a prominent social service organization in Riyadh, celebrated this milestone under the stewardship of its President, Mr. Ummar Kutty. The ceremony was formally inaugurated by Dr. Abu Mathen George, Deputy Ambassador of the Indian Embassy in Riyadh. Secretary Mr. Arun Kumaran extended a cordial welcome to the gathering, followed by a felicitous address delivered by Mr. Ibrahim Subuhan.
Adding an intellectual edge to the celebrations, the grand finale of the much-anticipated inter-school quiz competition was held under the chairmanship of former RIA President, Mr. Madhavan Sundarraj, drawing enthusiastic participation from young minds across Riyadh.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions to community welfare, RIA conferred honours upon distinguished individuals engaged in social service in Riyadh. The awardees were Mr. Shihab Kottukad, Mr. Santosh Prem Winfred, Mr. Ahmed Imthiyas, and Mr. Shaiju Pacha.
A commemorative souvenir titled “SILVERIA”, published in both digital and print editions, was unveiled by Mrs. Sangeetha, Principal of Dunes International School. The occasion also featured the screening of a documentary chronicling RIA’s remarkable 25-year journey and its notable achievements.
Reaffirming its commitment to humanitarian service, RIA extended financial assistance of approximately ₹3,15,000 to the families of a former RIA members in India facing severe hardship. In a parallel gesture of community support, a cheque for ₹1.5 lakh was presented to facilitate the construction of a borewell in Puthur village, Tamil Nadu, ensuring access to clean water for its residents.
The evening also witnessed the unveiling of the trophy and jersey for the eagerly awaited RIA Football Tournament, slated for October. Adding to the spirit of celebration, long-standing members who had completed 20 years of dedicated association with RIA were felicitated with special honours.
The cultural segment lit up the evening with enthralling performances by renowned playback singers Nikhil Mathew and Soumya Sanathanan, joined by talented RIA members and leading dance academies of Riyadh. The Silver Jubilee festivities culminated on a joyous note with a grand dinner, warmly served to all attendees.
