Jeddah – The Indian Doctors’ Medical Forum (IDMF) and consulate general of India under the supervision of Sri Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri council general of India inaugurated its School Health Awareness Programme on Oral & Dental Screening at the Boys’ Section Auditorium of International Indian School, Jeddah on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
This was a long standing initiative of IDMF. This program was spear headed by Dr Mohammed Abdul Saleem General Secretary of IDMF and core committee member Dr Kamal.
This five-day initiative aims to promote preventive oral healthcare and facilitate early diagnosis among school children.
The ceremony began with Dr. Farheen Taha welcoming the dignitaries and inviting them to the dais. Bouquets were presented to the Chief Guest, Mr. Imam Mehdi Hussain, Consul and Head of Chancery, and Mrs. Darsana Nair, General Manager, Haleon.
In his keynote address, Dr. Ashfaq Maniyar, President of IDMF, emphasized the importance of shifting from curative to preventive healthcare, particularly within school health programmes. He highlighted the critical role of early detection in ensuring long-term wellbeing.
Mrs. Darsana Nair spoke about Haleon’s Healthy Smile initiative, which focuses on enhancing oral hygiene awareness and improving dental health outcomes across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Representing the Honourable Consul General Shri Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, Mr. Imam Mehdi Hussain conveyed his best wishes for the successful implementation of the programme. A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Mrs. Darsana Nair in recognition of her valuable contribution.




Dr. Mohammad Imran, the Principal, IIS, Jeddah delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, organizers, partners, and stakeholders for their continued support.
The inaugural program was also attended by IDMF core committee members such as Dr. Revathy and Dr. Mujeeb, school officials, all the volunteering dentists and students.
Following the formal ceremony, the Oral & Dental Screening Camp was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting event. Over the next four days, more than 5000 students from Grades III to VIII will undergo dental screening. Students requiring further care will be guided toward appropriate clinical consultation to ensure timely follow-up and intervention.
The event concluded with a group photograph, marking the successful launch of this important school health initiative.
Dental health kits were provided to all the students by Haleon group.
