RIYADH – Aligarh Muslim University will award the degree of Doctorate (D.Lit) to the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Muhammad Bin Salman when he visits India. According to the press release issued by AMUAAR, this was said by the AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tariq Mansoor. He was addressing the Grand Sir Syed Day Celebration organized by Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Riyadh [AMUAAR]. The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. Tariq Mansoor was the Chief Guest. Famous Bollywood and TV Actor of ‘Bhabiji Ghar par hain’ fame, Asif Shaikh was the Guest of Honor.
Prof. Tariq Mansoor said that during his tenure as VC, the University has introduced 40 new courses including Artificial Intelligence, Data Sciences, Robotics etc. He also highlighted the initiatives to engage the alumni of the University. Prof. Tariq Mansoor invited all the alumni to visit the well-facilitated AMU campus during their next visit to India. Guest of Honor, Aasif Sheikh expressed his thanks to the association and appreciated the alumni culture which is spread all over the world.
The function was very well moderated by Faisal Zuberi, General Secretary of the AMUAAR.
Arshad Ali Khan, the President of AMUOBA Riyadh thanked the Chief Guest and Guest of honor for accepting the invitation to grace the occasion. Arshad Khan also stressed the need to spread the mission of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and urged the alumni to work together for education which is the only tool for the development of the community as well as the country. The President also reminded the basic ideology of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan which is ‘Modern Education’ and ‘Moral Teachings and Scientific knowledge’. AMU anthem/tarana “Ye mera chaman hai mera chaman …” was presented by ladies and gents alumni together, which was unprecedented in the history of AMOUBA Riyadh. Mrs. Samina Masood, the Vice President of AMUOBA presented the vote of thanks.
A souvenir “The Alig Fraternity” was also released on this occasion, which was compiled by the Editorial team led by Saad Bin Mohammed, who is also the Treasurer of the Association. The function was held at Marriott Hotel near King Khalid airport. It was attended by the Aligs in Riyadh and the prominent Indian community in Riyadh.
