The Consulate General of India, Jeddah celebrated 75th Republic Day of India on January 26 with great fervor and enthusiasm. The celebration began in the morning with the flag unfurling ceremony, held in the Consulate premises. Consul General of India in Jeddah Mohammad Shahid Alam, unfurled the tricolor. On this momentous occasion of 75th Republic Day of India, Consul General extended warm wishes to fellow Indian citizens living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During his speech, Consul General, reaffirmed that the welfare of Indian community has remained Consulate’s topmost priority and, in this regard, Consulate has conducted a number of Open Houses throughout the year in which the Indians, without prior approval, directly interacted with Consulate officials, including the Consul General, for the redressal of their grievances. Consular visits under the ‘Consulate on Wheels’ programme was made to provide consular and welfare services to the Indians living in distant cities Jazan, Najran, Tabuk and Madina etc. He also appreciated the valuable contribution of all Indian leaders and community members who assisted the Consulate in providing welfare services to the Indians.
Consul General read the address to the nation by the President of India Smt. Draupadi Murmu, delivered on the eve of 75th Republic Day, wherein the President, inter alia, mentioned that nation is in the early years of Amrit Kaal, the period leading to the centenary of Independence, which has given us golden opportunity to take the country to new heights and reminded that contribution from every citizen will be crucial to achieve the nation’s future goals. The students of International Indian School, Jeddah presented Patriotic songs as tribute to our freedom fighters. The event was attended by the members of Indian Community and friends of India in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
