JEDDAH — The Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA) Jeddah Chapter recently held its installation ceremony at a local restaurant, with 150 Aligarians attending to celebrate the newly elected committee for the 2024-2026 term. 

The election process began with a General Body meeting on May 24, 2024, and concluded on May 31, 2024. The entire process, from nominations to results, was overseen by senior members Prof. Dr. Syed Hamed and Mahfooz Hussain, who were appointed as Election Commissioners. 

The newly elected committee is led by Aqeel Jamil as President, with Asim Zeeshan Ali Khan as Vice President, Dr. Prince Mufti Ziaul Hasan as General Secretary, Md. Shahnawaz Alam as Joint Secretary, and Rabnawaz Khan as Treasurer. Elected cabinet members include Mohammad Sirajuddin, Athar Rasool, Dr. Mohammad Omais Ansari, Mohammad Danish Khan, Fahad Ayub Zinjani, Abid Hussain Aftab, Sardar Masood Khan, Dr. Abrar Ahmed, and Fahad Afridi. Outgoing President Ateeq Siddiqui will serve as an advisor. 

Aqeel Jamil introduced his team, and the induction process was completed by pinning AMU badges on the sherwanis of the executive committee members by advisors Farzan Rizvi, Azizurrab, Nooruddin Khan, and Ateeq Siddiqui. Senior advisors honored the election commissioners Prof. Dr. Syed Hamed and Mahfooz Hussain and outgoing President Ateeq Siddiqui with mementos. 

In his inaugural speech, Aqeel Jamil pledged to focus, with his team, on youth empowerment through training in public speaking and leadership, career guidance, and financial support for students via the “Each One Teach One” program. They emphasized the welfare of the Alig community and the broader Indian community. 

Founded in the 1980s, the AMUOBA Jeddah chapter serves the educational, social, literary, and cultural needs of AMU alumni in Jeddah and surrounding areas, promoting the vision and educational ideals of AMU and its founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
