HYDERABAD – Doctors of the Deccan Alumni Association organized for the first time Urdu Mehfil – Tamsili Mushaira at the Mountain Restaurant at Banjara Hills Road no 12 in Hyderabad.
The host Dr. Mohd Qutub, Board of directors, Deccan Alumni Association North America (DAANA) Nephrologist from USA along with Dr Naseem Majid Hospital Administrator, General Secretary DAA and Dr Khaja Yaminuddin Diabetes Care Specialist, Joint Secretary Western Region Middle East organised the Mehfil with more than 80 Alumni Urdu lovers in attendance.
The anchor (Nizamat) of the evening was done very professionally by Dr. Khaja Yaminuddin who entertained the guests and started the program with couplets of the famous naat, Fasloun ko Takallauf hai Hum se Agar.
Dr. Mohd Qutub welcomed the alumni and expressed the importance of Urdu language.
Dr. Nadeem, who is an Oncologist, recited a few couplets from the collection of Allama Iqbal with their meanings. Dr. Hidayath, Internist also recited couplets of Iqbal.
Dr. Abdur Rehman, who is a house surgeon, recited couplets from a mix of poets including Rahat Indori who is his favorite.
Dr. Shahana Jalees, assistant professor of biochemistry at the Deccan College of Medical Sciences also recited a few couplets of Iqbal.
Dr. Khaja Yaminuddin, who was the moderator, recited few couplets of Dr. Majid Deobandi, Shabeena Adeeb’s well known ghazal – Zara Sa Khudrat Ne Kiya Nawaza, Manzar Bhopali’s famous ghazal – Betiyan Inko Aansuon bhi jo Milaye tu Muskurati hai.
The audience enjoyed the lovely evening and interacted with each other.
The poetry session wrapped up with the moderator for the evening Dr. Khaja Yaminuddin reciting “Daastaan”, his personal experience clubbed with poetry and story.
The Mushaira was conducted mainly for the alumni who stay abroad and visit Hyderabad during their vacation and how they feel nostalgic when they leave Hyderabad. It was well appreciated by the alumni audience.
Dr. Mohd Qutub had ordered printed T-shirts encouraging to protect the kidneys which was given as a gift to all the attendees.
For the first time the Alumni of Deccan College of Medical Sciences Hyderabad organized this Mushaira and the attendees enjoyed it a lot. The Mushaira concluded with a sumptuous dinner.
