HYDERABAD – Ghazal Singer Dr. Abdul Ghani enthralled the audience at G.R. Reddy Hall, Shantinagar, Hyderabad. Dr. Abdul Ghani is visiting his home town Hyderabad on vacation. He works at Hufof Hospital in Saudi Arabia

Dr. Ghani and his team members mesmerized the audience with their great performance in the event ‘Ek Shaam Doctor Ghani ke Naam’. Dr. Ashraf Ali, Director of World Business Group, Saudi Arabia attended as the Chief Guest of the program. Journalist, Head of Vishwaroopam Daily Newspaper, Chief Editor Shaikh Ismail, Hameed, Imran Farid, T. Kumaraswamy, D. Prada participated as guests. 

Along with Dr. Ghani, Ustad Asif Ali, Ghazal legend Pandit Vitthal Rao’s daughter Sandhya Vitthal Rao, Anwar Baig, Archana Kumar, musicians Ustad Sardar Khan on Tabla, Pandit Nandakumar Ji on Sitar and Ustad Umar Khan on keyboard entertained the audience. Dr. Ghani paid tribute to his mentor renowned ghazal singer Pandit Vitthal Rao by singing the ghazal composed by him. The lyrics of famous ghazal poets Amjad Hyderabadi, Shamim Jayapuri, Saida Shahidi, Ahmed Faraz, Fani Badauni and Khaja were presented in tradinational classical form of ghazal singing. 

 After the performance,  Dr. Ghani talked to journalist Shaik Ismail. In Telugu film industry some artists and actors used to say that ‘they became an actor as they couldn’t become a doctor’. But Dr. Abdul Ghani, who was born and brought up in Hyderabad, grew up as an artist from childhood by singing on school and college stages and gained many fans. He graduated as a doctor from Osmania Medical College in 1975 and while serving patients he continued his life as ghazal singer. While continuing his career as a medical director in Saudi Arabia, he used to entertain his fans and audiences with his ghazals and songs. Dr. Abdul Ghani, though very busy in the medical profession, maintains a balance as a doctor and as an artist. It is not possible for everyone.  Dr. Ghani said that behind the scenes and success, his wife’s support and help is there in every way. She is also not an ordinary person. She is Mrs. Durdana Begum who has done her MA, M. Phil and Ph. D in Urdu Literature. Ghazal literature is heavily influenced by Urdu language. Dr. Ghani enjoys ghazal lyrics and composes ghazal songs in his own style and also composes. As a composer and musician, Dr. Ghani sings his ghazals himself. 

‘Ek Shaam Doctor Ghani ke Naam’ was a memorable event thoroughly enjoyed by the elite audience.
