DISHA (Dedicated team for Indo Saudi Holistic Alignment) is a mainstream socio-cultural organization in Saudi Arabia officially formed on 23 June 2021 with the aim of strengthening holistic cultural exchange between India and Saudi Arabia. In collaboration with the Indian Embassy Riyadh, Jeddah Consulate, Saudi Yoga Committee, Arab Yoga Foundation, Saudi Arabia’s cultural project Salaam, many social and cultural activities are being organized in Saudi Arabia. About 3145 volunteers are coordinating the activities of Disha in 3 regional committees namely Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah.
“Disha Yoga Meet 2023” is being organized under the auspices of Disha as part of the 9th International Yoga Day celebrations. The celebrations will be held on June 16 at Real Madrid Academy Stadium Riyadh Schools, Riyadh. The 9th International Yoga Day is being organized by Disha in collaboration with the Embassy of India Riyadh and Eram Group, a leading industrial chain, in collaboration with the Saudi Yoga Committee, which is a part of the Olympic Committee under the Sports Ministry of Saudi Arabia.
Ambassadors from embassies like India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, President of Saudi Yoga Committee Padma Shri Nouf Al Marwai, CEO of Saudi Yoga Committee Shri Ahmed Alzadi, Eram Group Chairman and Managing Director and Pravasi Bharatiya Samman winner Dr. Siddique Ahmed, Arab Yoga Foundation Representative Lameez Al Siddique, Salam Cultural Project Representative Dr. Yasser Faraj will also participate as a guest. Indian Ambassador Dr. Suhail Ajaz Khan will inaugurate the program and Padma Shri Nauf Al Marwai will deliver the keynote address. Disha will be presided over by the Saudi National President Kanakalal KM. Welcome address will be delivered by V. Ranjith and V. Unnikrishnan will give the vote of thanks. As part of the celebrations, an extensive committee has been formed under the leadership of the 3 regional committees of Saudi Arabia.
A 43-member committee with Shri Kanakalal as Convener and Rajesh Moolaveetil as Co-Convenor is working to coordinate the activities in Riyadh. Admission will start from 5 pm on that day. The program will start from 7 pm. Then mass yoga session, children’s yoga practice, yoga themed art programs etc. will be staged as per UN International approved yoga protocol presented by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. Disha warmly welcomes all those who love yoga and want to know about yoga to attend the program. Online registration for this has already started. In the press conference, Disha Saudi National President and Program Convenor Kanakalal, Riyadh Regional General Secretary V. Unnikrishnan, Co-Convenor and Riyadh Regional Coordinator Rajesh Moolaveetil, Finance Committee Convener Ajesh and Iram Group Regional Head Irfan Ahmed were present.
