With the theme of “Celebrate the fundamentals of infection prevention and control”, KSUMC celebrated the International Infection Prevention Week.
This week-long celebration was officially opened at King Khalid University Hospital by Prof. Fawzi Al Jassir (CMO- KSUMC). He was accompanied by Prof. Sarah Al Subait (Medical Director- DUH) and Dr. Fatimah Al Shahrani (IPAC Corp. Director- KSUMC). Other members of the team were also present on this occasion.
IPAC team showcased the importance of basic practices like hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPEs), cough etiquette, vaccination, and environmental cleaning. These simple steps help protect patients, healthcare workers, and the public alike.
November 1, marks the 4th day at King Abdul Aziz University Hospital (KAUH), led by Prof. Farid Al Zahrani (Medical Director- KAUH) and Dr. Hatem Kalanttan (Deputy Medical Director), the IPAC team recognized the healthcare workers who are the champions in their own field in promoting infection prevention practices.
Also, let’s not forget to recognize the Unsung Heroes – the Infection Prevention Control professionals who work tirelessly to guide and provide best-practice care. They prevent and control hospital infections, monitor and audit, and provide training and education. “It’s been a challenging task, but with resilience and adaptability of IPAC Team, and support from the hospital administration and collaboration with others, we’ve been successful in implementing and maintaining infection control fundamentals at KSUMC” says Dr. Al Shahrani.
