Allama Iqbal: The Poet of Humanity, Universal Man! Understanding Every Aspect of His Personality Requires “Baqiyat-e-Iqbal”  

The world stands on the brink of a nuclear world war. This can be averted by adopting the philosophy of “Respect for Humanity” as envisioned by Allama Iqbal.  

Jeddah: On the occasion of the visit of the famous scholar, researcher, expert in Iqbaliyat, poet, and writer Dr. Syed Taqi Abedi to Jeddah, a grand literary session was organized by Iqbal Academy Jeddah (the overseas branch of Iqbal Academy Hyderabad) on December 26, 2024, at the Village Restaurant in Jeddah. The event was attended by literary enthusiasts, intellectuals, and delegates from various literary organizations and associations. During the event, the Vice President and General Secretary of Iqbal Academy Jeddah, Muhammad Fahimuddin, highlighted the objectives and goals of Iqbal Academy Jeddah.  

The session began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Hafiz Hamad Khan. Following the recitation, young students Hamad Khan, Abdul Sami Iqbal, and Abdul Mujib Iqbal presented a poem derived from Iqbal’s works in a melodious and harmonious style. Afterward, the young student Syed Mustafa Muazzam presented Iqbal’s poetry (Na’at Sharif) in a beautiful manner. A member of the Shura and advisor at Iqbal Academy Jeddah, Siraj Wahab, welcomed the participants and attendees and expressed his good wishes to them.  

Honorary guest Amir Khurshid Rizvi, Chairman of the Iqbal Council, World Urdu Center, gave a brief presentation on the complete works of Iqbal. In his speech, he emphasized that Iqbal, as a great artist, transcends the constraints of time and space; he is like an ocean whose mention cannot be confined to a few hours or gatherings. His poetry and philosophy have found acceptance not only in the Indian subcontinent but also in the Far East, the Middle East, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, and even the Arab world.  

Nay Cheeni Wa Arabi Woh, Na Roomi Wa Shaami,  

Sama Saka Na Do Aalam Mein Woh Mard-e-Afaaqi.  

“Not Chinese or Arabs, nor Romans or Syrians, He was the universal man, unbounded by the two worlds.”  

Afterward, Asif Qadri beautifully recited a ghazal from Baqiyat-e-Iqbal, which was highly appreciated by the audience.  

Another honorary guest, the famous intellectual, poet, and writer, Syed Waheedul Qadri Arif, expressed his admiration for the efforts of Iqbal Academy Jeddah, especially for the work of Muhammad Fahimuddin. He said that in today’s world, where detachment from knowledge and literature is common, this light (of Iqbal’s teachings) continues to shine. He also expressed deep devotion of Allama Iqbal, especially his connection to the land of Hijaz.
