
Jeddah: The birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi, the architect of modern India and former Prime Minister, was observed as Sadbhavana Day. Rajiv Gandhi, who made remarkable contributions to India’s progress in the fields of science and technology, also implemented revolutionary reforms to strengthen India’s democratic system.
Speakers at the function highlighted that granting voting rights to citizens aged 18 and above, the Anti-Defection Law, and the Panchayat–Municipality Bill aimed at decentralization of power were all historic governance reforms carried out during his tenure as Prime Minister.
The program was presided over by OICC Western Regional Committee President Hakeem Parakkal. General Secretary Manoj Mathew delivered the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Speech. Leaders including Ashhab Varkala, Sherif Arakkal, Radhakrishnan Kaubai, Ali Thekethott, district presidents, regional office-bearers, and district functionaries spoke on the occasion.
General Secretary Azad Porur delivered the welcome address, while NORKA Convenor Abdul Khader Aluva proposed the vote of thanks.
