The Consulate General of India in Jeddah, in association with the Steering Committee of the Indian Community, hosted a vibrant Christmas and New Year 2026 celebration at the Consulate premises on 1 January 2026, bringing together members of the Indian diaspora in a spirit of unity, joy, and cultural harmony.
The celebrations commenced on a solemn and respectful note with the playing of the national anthems of India and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, symbolizing the strong bonds of friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.
The occasion was graced by the Consul General of India, Jeddah, His Excellency Shri Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, who addressed the large and enthusiastic gathering. Extending warm Christmas and New Year greetings, the Consul General outlined key initiatives focused on community welfare, inclusivity, and the promotion of Indian cultural heritage across the western region of the Kingdom. He emphasized the importance of unity and collective participation, while commending the Indian community for its active engagement and valuable contributions.
In a heartwarming and symbolic gesture that resonated strongly with the audience, His Excellency joined children in wearing Santa caps, reflecting his warmth, approachability, and close engagement with the community. The celebrations culminated with the ceremonial cutting of the New Year cake, followed by the release of balloons, marking the beginning of New Year 2026 and symbolizing hope, prosperity, and togetherness.
On behalf of the Steering Committee of the Indian Community in Jeddah, Eng. Kaja Mohideen delivered the welcome address. He highlighted the visionary leadership of the Consul General and his consistent efforts in fostering unity among the Indian community notified The large gathering itself witnessed the Consul General’s pivotal role in promoting Indian cultural heritage and encouraging opportunities for community members to showcase their talents.
The programme featured outstanding cultural performances by members of the Indian community, with participants ranging from children to adults. Colourful and well-choreographed dance performances, along with soulful classical and contemporary songs, captivated the audience and reflected the richness and diversity of India’s cultural heritage. The thoughtfully curated programme ensured an engaging and festive atmosphere throughout the event.
A delegation from the Indian Business Professional Network (IBPN), represented by Mr. Vijay Soni and Dr. Mirza Qudrath Nawaz Baig, addressed the gathering on emerging business opportunities for the Indian community. They briefed attendees on the vision and mission of IBPN and invited businessmen and aspiring entrepreneurs to join the network and leverage collaborative growth opportunities
