RIYADH – The Embassy of India in Riyadh hosted a prestigious official reception today at the Cultural Palace, Diplomatic Quarter, to commemorate the 77th Republic Day of India. The evening served as a vibrant testament to the deep-rooted diplomatic and cultural ties between India and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
High-Level Presence and Distinguished Guests
The celebration was graced by H.E. Dr. Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Sudairy, Hon’ble Undersecretary for the Riyadh Region, who attended as the Chief Guest. The event also welcomed His Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, Hon’ble Vice Minister of Interior.
The reception saw an impressive turnout of over 700 distinguished guests, including:
- Resident Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps.
- Senior officials from the Saudi government.
- Leading figures from business, academia, think tanks, and the media.
- Prominent members of the Indian diaspora.
Strengthening the Strategic Partnership
In his keynote address, the Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, emphasized the robust momentum of the India–Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership. He highlighted that the relationship is currently underpinned by intensive bilateral engagements across all critical sectors.
Ambassador Khan made a special note of the State Visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to Saudi Arabia in April 2025. He described the visit as a pivotal moment that provided “renewed direction and strength” to the bilateral bond, setting a high trajectory for future cooperation.


A Showcase of Culture and Heritage
The evening’s cultural program was a centerpiece of the celebration, blending history with artistic excellence:
- Vande Mataram: A special dance performance commemorated the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song.
- Theyyam: Guests were treated to a classical ‘Theyyam’ performance from Kerala, showcasing the vibrant colors and ancient traditions of India’s diverse heritage.
- Textile Traditions: A curated display of Indian textiles, specifically regional sarees, highlighted the intricate craftsmanship and diversity of the Indian weaving industry.
Promoting Trade and Tourism
Beyond the formalities, the event offered an immersive experience of Indian excellence. Guests visited promotional stalls focused on Indian tourism, healthcare, and technology.
A dedicated Indian Coffee booth became a major attraction, where Saudi dignitaries and international guests highly appreciated the unique aroma and flavor profile of Indian beans. The evening concluded with a wide sampling of authentic Indian cuisine, further celebrating the “soft power” of India’s culinary traditions.
