
Hyderabad, India – The Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation (TUWJF) held an esteemed award ceremony on Saturday, celebrating outstanding contributions to Urdu journalism. The event, dedicated to recognizing excellence in the field, brought together distinguished journalists, media professionals, and public figures.
Several prestigious awards were presented to honor the achievements of Urdu scribes. The Faiz Mohammed Asghar Award was bestowed upon Iftekhar Ali Wajid from Etemaad Daily and Yasirullah Shakeel from satellite channel 4TV for their exemplary work in journalism. Shahid Ahmed Tawakkal from Adilabad and Waheed Gulshan were recognized with the Tabassum Fareedi Award, while senior journalist Naeem Wajahat from Siasat Daily and Mohammed Asad from Karimnagar received the Habib Ali Al-Jilani Award.
In recognition of excellence in press photography, the MA Rahim Press Photographer Award was presented to Mohammed Aleemuddin from Press Photo Service. Veteran journalist K. N. Wasif was honored with a Special Overseas Journalist Award for his remarkable contributions to the non-resident Indian media sector.
A Lifetime Achievement Award was posthumously conferred upon the late Habeeb Ali Al Jeelani for his unwavering dedication to Urdu journalism and his service to the community. The prestigious accolade was presented by INN Chairman Sameer Waliullah.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi, who extended his congratulations to the awardees and commended TUWJF for fostering excellence among Urdu journalists.
The event served as a platform to celebrate the vital role of Urdu journalism in preserving linguistic heritage, informing the public, and shaping discourse. It reaffirmed TUWJF’s commitment to supporting journalists and ensuring that the Urdu media continues to thrive.
